Can’t control Bean printer

#1

hi
i got my bean printer
now the printer connected to my router through LAN
and my pc and iphone both connected to the same network

i can go to kudo3d.local site with no problem
BUT it shows in the state offline

when i press “connect”
it shows : Error failed to open serial port , permissions correct?

what should i do ?
thanks

You should contact Kudo3D support directly. The web interface and the printer control board should both turn on together, so I don’t think there is any user-controllable circumstance where the web interface would be unable to connect to the printer control board. There might be machine specific diagnostics that you need to do. It could be as simple as a cable being shaken loose during transport, but you should contact support and work with them.

#3

thanks ,
i will contact them
but they take long time to respond in each mail

#4

Hi,

It seems i’ve the same issue, did you manage to sorted out ? with support ?

#5

i’m still in contact with them
they are too slow in responding to mails

they said
( The mega2560 might be dead.

Remove the back panel.

Please unplug the USB cable from the mega2560.

Find a similar USB cable and connect the mega2560 to a PC.

Follow the instructions attached to update the firmware.

If you are not able to update the firmware, it is very likely that mega2560 is dead. )

#6

Hello,
Same here!
Any update?

#7

I have the same error.

#8

try this as they said it to me in the mail

The mega2560 might be dead.
Remove the back panel.
Please unplug the USB cable from the mega2560.
Find a similar USB cable and connect the mega2560 to a PC.
Follow the instructions attached to update the firmware.
If you are not able to update the firmware, it is very likely that mega2560 is dead.

( they send me a file for bean firmware to try the method )

#9

Hi, I have the same problem. Have you tried to update the firmware? have you solved or the board is dead?
Can you share files sent by kudo with us so we can try to do the same? Thanks

#10

I have weird error, cause I receive the error often, but not always even when my Bean is connected according the web app, have error moving the platform, even in printing process the carriage don’t move. however reseting the Mega2560 (it have a reset button) the printer is working at this moment. I’m not sure if this resolve the issue completely or the trouble back again.

#11

Hey, Add me to the list. Same issue.
My LCD started to show black marks after two weeks of printing and they refused to fix it. Then two days after addressing the issue, the printer is completely got bricked. The LCD panel displays the boot sequence and fails to connect completely. Two weeks and its scrapped. Now they don’t want to help fix the issue because as they put it I was an early backer and i paid less the what the Bean cost to make.
I ended up buying another LCD from another company (Photon) and am still waiting for a response from Bean. Its been almost 4 WEEKS with no response.

#12

hi guys
no i can’t update firmware
i got an error

so i don’t know if it is dead or not
i have no experience in arduino things
so i’m learning from the internet in how to do that

#13

how did you find the reser button?
i mean the mega is really deep inside
i can’t get that just from removing the back panel ?

#14

The reset button should be on the upper side of the board, try pressing it at the same time when you start the update on your computer.
ps When you turn on the printer the cooling fan works?

#15

i don’t think it should work with just powering up the printer

i mean it should work when you start printing
and i can’t start printing until i solve the problem

and no way i can find the reset button from just removeing the back panel !

#16

for update
i found that when i connect my mega 2560 to my laptop
it disconnect and reconnect every few seconds ?!

can i solve this ?
or that mean a dead unit ?

#17

Bean has 2 cooling fans, 1 for the electronic boards and 1 for the UV lamp. I’m pretty sure that the boards fan must be continuously in operation when you turn on the printer (on my other printers it is always on). Anyway I think that my printer is dead, no sign of life … only the LEDs work.

About disconnect and reconnect every few seconds, I can not answer you, it can also be connection problems. Look for the reset button and try again the update (very patiently) if you can reload the firmware the problem is something else.

I wrote to kudo3d, I hope they will answer me soon

#19

i’m sorry man
the fan in the back panel
yes it does work with the printer on !
so sorry for wrong answer

and can you find the reset button in yours ??!!
with just removing the back panel ?

#20

Ok thanks…mine does not work. So it’s possible that your board is in a better situation than mine =)
The reset button is on the right board, NOT the raspberry (just to be sure), there is a small black button on the top part, positioned in the middle of the board on the upper edge, it is quite difficult to reach it check with attention.

I can not help more than that, I hope for a replacement or a refund…I hope someone else has news

OMG
i did update the firmware ( accidentally )
as i said it keeps disconnecting/reconnecting
and i was just clicking the upload button
and it says done

before update
when i go to ( kudo3d.local )
the serial port was blank
and machine state error failed to open serial port

after update
now the serial port says ( /dev/ttyUSB0 )
but the machine state same error :man_facepalming:t2:

still not working
